Grand Hotel Struer in West jutland was built in 1895 by Consul Schou, and shortly after a guest spontaneously exclaimed that the place was a pleasant sensation. Today, the hotel has been carefully restored with respect for the old style – and the guest is still at the centre! We offer 70 comfortable rooms, great atmosphere and in the newly established brasserie and bar there is plenty of opportunities for a delicious lunch but indeed also for an intimate dinner for two. After dinner you might want to walk the 50 metres to the cosy marina, and if you feel like a swim the fantastic beach can easily be reached on foot. There are great possibilities for golfing also. Take a stroll around the harbour of Struer where it is hard to overlook a comely girl standing high on a plinth, holding a bird in her hands and gazing towards Thyholm. There is a fascinating story behind the harbour girl – just as there is behind Thyholm to the north and Struer to the south. Museum. Look up, and through the impressive roof construction of the pyramid you can watch sea gulls and clouds flitting across the sky. Look down, and you will find yourself in the heart of the newly reopened Bang & Olufsen section of the museum. This is where the story is told of two young engineers who – working from the home of one of their mothers – started a modest sound and vision company, which, more than 80 years on, is now synonymous with world-class audio and design. We are proud to be able to introduce you to a peerless chapter in the history of Danish Design and media.
